Day 1 - New Year Reflection

Last night was the end of a very tumultuous year. One filled with a lot of change, uncertainty and fear. It was also the end to a year of significant self discovery. Reflection, introduction, brave steps into a brand new world. Throughout the year, I went from a moderately overweight married mother of two...to a fit but still moderately overweight separated mother of two, to ending the year a sluggish, single, no longer overweight mother of two.

The enduring message throughout the year...mother of two. I spend a lot of time doing what is best for my kids, or what I think is best for them. Scheduling them for activities, making meals they like, running to and fro looking for ways to keep them happy...totally focusing my world around them. It was only in the last little while, I realized that there is a reason flight attendants tell us to put on our own masks first before helping others. If you aren't well enough to help them, you will both suffer. It seems this has been my unconscious reality for months.

So today, I put together a plan. Set, not resolutions, but expectations for myself and they are as follows:
1 - Get back to the business of being happy
2 - Take care of my body as well as my mind
3 - Get rid of the dead weight (high drama, low support friends - see ya!)
4 - Only engage in healthy relationships
5 - Walk slower, breathe deeper...and enjoy every minute!

I've also set a few lofty goals in the physical sense:
1 - Go Skydiving (thanks to an amazing new person in my life, I'm jumping 13,000 ft out of a well working plane!)
2 - Warrior Dash (again thanks to amazing people in my life I'll be running a 5k extreme obstacle course including swimming in mud and jumping through fire!)
3 - Complete an Olympic distance triathlon (in support of the London games!)

Not a small feet in any case. Go big or wallow...those are my options. Kick starting it all off tonight with the Wild Rose Detox and a new exercise program. My updates will hopefully come daily...finish what you start, right?

Good luck to you and yours this 2012. May it be the year you live truly, love madly and adventure fearlessly!
